Summer Nerd Camp: Linguistics

MTWTh 5:00 - 6:30, May 29 - July 9. Course # RCL281218.

This class is going to ask tough but interesting questions about language. Why do you speak differently than your parents? Why is Shakespeare so hard to understand? Why is learning Spanish easier than learning German (or is it?) What happened to Latin? Who learns Chinese? This class is about looking at languages, and how they change, and how we study them. We’ll look at Greek, Latin, Irish, French, Elvish (Sindarin), and a bunch of other languages to learn about how language changes, and why we (should) care.
